Our Career Search Advice

  1. Set goals. The first step in your search is to establish clear goals with criteria. Consider the following questions: What career fields are you interested in? What do you want to learn? What types of organizations are you interested in working for? Where do you want to work?
  2. Find opportunities. Positions are posted throughout the year, but some trends vary depending on the field. Meet with a career counselor to discuss a tailored approach to your interests. Additionally, Career Engagement has an extensive database of resources to help you find what you are looking for.
  3. Connect with alumnae/i and professionals. Networking with people in your chosen field is one of the best ways to learn more about opportunities, gain information on industry trends, learn about unadvertised vacancies, and explore career paths.
  4. Complete the application.
  5. Prepare your resume and cover letter. Our resume and cover letter samples can help you create your own that showcases your experience clearly, concisely, and compellingly.
  6. Practice interviewing skills. Don't be afraid of interviews. We have everything you need to know about preparing so you feel comfortable and confident.
